Background

EXELNetwork, a multi-divisional company, found itself facing the challenge of operating in silos. Different departments had their unique ways of doing things, resulting in a lack of cohesion. Leadership was keen on gaining insights into how team members spent their time and how teams could collaborate more efficiently.

To solve this, EXELNetwork chose Beamible for its simplicity and supportive team. The platform not only shed light on how employees were spending their time, but also helped understand what tasks were energising to team members.

Milestone 1: Activity and Time Analysis

The first significant milestone in the project involved using Beamible to help identify how and where people were spending time, then identifying variations or trends between teams. They saw this as an opportunity to better understand what work was transactional and what was more customer-focused. 

EXELNetwork also used the platform to identify what work is energising to teams, as well as what work could be done remotely or delegated to an offsite team.

Milestone 2: Identifying Offsite Work Opportunities

In a surprising revelation, EXELNetwork identified a higher than anticipated amount of work that could potentially be executed using an offsite team. This opened avenues for EXELNetwork to think about remote teams for transactional work to help reduce costs and increase capacity for onsite employees. 

Milestone 3: Employee Well-being

It was also revealed that several employees were spending the majority of their time on these transactional activities, and had been for a long time, which they found to be de-energising. It became clear this was a risk to job satisfaction and employee engagement for the impacted employees. A reevaluation of roles was prompted, ultimately leading to role changes that aligned better with employee preferences.
